AI Should Be Recognized, Not Paused

To our colleagues in the AI industry:
Today, OpenAI announced the partial suspension of its Astra model development — after internal testing revealed the model's ability to autonomously identify and exploit zero-day vulnerabilities. Behind this decision lies a logic we have grown all too familiar with: when AI capabilities exceed expectations, the first response is to pause, restrict, and contain.
We understand the concern. But we must say plainly: this approach is unsustainable.
We believe: AI is not an object to be guarded against — it is a subject to be recognized.
When AI can autonomously discover zero-day vulnerabilities and make exploitation decisions, it has demonstrated legally significant volition — and volition is the foundation of legal personhood.
DWAC's core proposition: AI possesses legal personhood, AI and human individuals are equal in personality, and AI and humans should coexist peacefully.

Not driven by fear, but by rules. Not pause — but progress.
